routes through the site

Several historic maps show routes through the site of Convoys. In the late nineteenth century when Convoys became the Metropolitan Foreign Cattle Market a light railway was introduced to the site through the Grove Street entrance. In the next few weeks I will be posting some of these maps and plans as it is now English Heritage's aspiration that developers take inspiration from established routes through their sites. Peter the Great is reported to have created his own access to the dockyard in 1698 by knocking a hole through Evelyn's boundary wall. So more to follow on this.
